A Message From the President

Why join a synagogue? Why affiliate when so many choose to be unaffiliated? What makes First Hebrew different?

Thanks for checking out our website and First Hebrew. We like to think that we’re warm and welcoming, and we hope that this site conveys that feeling (if not, please let us know!). First Hebrew is home to pluralistic worship – where we hope that Jews of all backgrounds feel at home and welcome. Our members have a strong sense of community and communal responsibility, in fact, one of our strongest committees is our Social Action committee which feeds and clothes the homeless in our area. Our Jewish Learning Experience (JLE) breaks the mold of traditional “Hebrew School” and provides an inviting and interesting place for children to learn about Judaism. In 2015, we welcome the first female rabbi in the 120 year history of First Hebrew and our community could not be more excited. There are too many great initiatives and activities going on at FHC to list them here – but why not give me a call (or email me) if you’d like to talk? 914-345-1000 or

I look forward to meeting you!
